In the world of aesthetic medicine, genuine innovation is rare. Most treatments that claim to be revolutionary turn out to be refinements of what already exists. Every so often, however, something emerges from the science that changes what is truly possible.

Exosome therapy is one of those moments. At PHP Aesthetic-Wellness on Harley Street, we have been closely following the science of exosomes for several years — evaluating the clinical evidence, assessing product quality and waiting until we were completely confident before offering this treatment to our patients. That moment has arrived.

“Exosomes do not simply stimulate the surface of the skin. They communicate with skin cells at a fundamental biological level — delivering precise instructions for regeneration, repair and renewal.”

— Dr Philippe Hamida-Pisal, PHP Aesthetic-Wellness

What are exosomes?

Every cell in your body constantly sends and receives signals — biological instructions that regulate growth, repair and inflammation. One of the key ways cells send these messages is by releasing tiny vesicles: microscopic packages filled with proteins and genetic material. These packages are exosomes.

Think of them as the body’s internal postal service. When skin cells are damaged — by UV, pollution, ageing or inflammation — they send exosomes carrying distress signals. When healing occurs, exosomes carry precise instructions: produce collagen here, regenerate this tissue, reduce this inflammation.

Exosomes are extraordinarily small — typically 30 to 150 nanometres in diameter, roughly one thousandth the width of a human hair — yet they carry an extraordinarily powerful set of biological instructions.

How is exosome therapy different from PRP?

PRP therapy

Concentrates the growth factors from your own platelets and reintroduces them to the skin, stimulating a broad healing and regenerative response.

“Send a general message: heal this area.”

Exosome therapy

Delivers highly specific biological signals — including genetic instructions — that penetrate cell membranes and directly alter how individual cells behave at a molecular level.

“Send a detailed, personalised set of instructions to each individual cell.”

PRP and exosomes are both outstanding treatments. At PHP Aesthetic-Wellness, we use both — and in many patients, we recommend combining them for the deepest regenerative result.

What can exosome therapy achieve for your skin?

Skin ageing & radiance

Stimulates collagen and elastin production. Skin looks refreshed from within — not treated from the outside.

Fine lines & wrinkles

Promotes collagen synthesis and cellular turnover, smoothing fine lines and reducing wrinkle depth.

Pigmentation & uneven tone

Regulates melanin production. Effective for sun damage and hyperpigmentation in all skin tones.

Acne scarring

Stimulates new, healthy collagen to soften and improve the texture of acne scars.

Redness & rosacea

Anti-inflammatory properties calm the skin’s inflammatory response and strengthen the skin barrier.

Hair loss

Applied to the scalp, exosomes stimulate dormant follicles and extend the active growth phase of the hair cycle.

Accelerate your recovery after any treatment.

Exosomes are increasingly used alongside laser resurfacing, microneedling, chemical peels and injectable treatments to accelerate healing, reduce downtime and significantly enhance the overall result. Ask Dr Hamida-Pisal whether adding exosomes would benefit your outcome.

Frequently asked questions

Is exosome therapy painful?

The treatment is very well-tolerated. Microinjections are used and a topical anaesthetic is applied beforehand. Most patients describe a mild pressure or warmth — sharp pain is uncommon.

Is there any downtime?

Minimal. Most patients experience mild temporary redness for 24 to 48 hours. You can usually return to normal activities the following day.

Can exosomes be combined with my existing treatments?

Yes. Exosomes work synergistically with PRP, mesotherapy, polynucleotides, Botox® and dermal fillers. Many patients achieve their best results through a combined regenerative programme.

How much does exosome therapy cost at PHP Aesthetic-Wellness?

Exosome therapy sessions start from £500. An exact quote is provided following your initial consultation, which is included in the cost of your first treatment.

Am I suitable for exosome therapy?

Exosome therapy is suitable for most adults seeking skin rejuvenation, anti-ageing improvement, pigmentation correction, acne scarring treatment or hair loss support. A consultation with Dr Hamida-Pisal will confirm suitability.
