Male pattern hair loss affects most men to some degree by their fifties — but earlier intervention consistently produces better, more sustainable results than waiting until thinning is advanced. Our medical hair loss programme for men is built around acting early and treating the cause, not just the symptom.

Understanding Male Hair Loss

The great majority of hair loss in men is androgenetic alopecia — male pattern baldness — a genetically driven, progressive process in which hair follicles become increasingly sensitive to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a derivative of testosterone. Over time, DHT sensitivity causes follicles to shrink (a process called miniaturisation), producing progressively finer, shorter hair until the follicle eventually stops producing visible hair altogether.

This is why early intervention matters so much: treatment is significantly more effective at stimulating follicles that are miniaturising than at reviving follicles that have been dormant for years. At PHP Aesthetic-Wellness, Dr Philippe Hamida-Pisal and Dr Jihyun Byun assess your specific pattern and stage of hair loss before recommending a protocol — because the right treatment, and the realistic expectation of what it can achieve, depends heavily on how advanced the process already is.

“The men who get the best results are very often the ones who come in early, before the thinning is obvious to everyone else. We can work with follicles that are struggling. We cannot bring back follicles that have been gone for a decade.”Dr Philippe Hamida-Pisal, PHP Aesthetic-Wellness

Patterns of Male Hair Loss We Treat

Receding HairlineMost Common
A gradually receding frontal hairline, often beginning at the temples, is typically the first visible sign of androgenetic alopecia and frequently the concern that first brings men into consultation.
Crown Thinning
Thinning at the crown or vertex, often noticed by a partner, barber, or in photographs from above before the man himself is fully aware of it.
Diffuse Thinning
An overall reduction in hair density across the scalp rather than a specific pattern — the hair feels and looks “thinner” without a clearly receding line, which is often the first thing patients describe.
Stress-Related Shedding
Telogen effluvium — temporary, diffuse shedding triggered by acute stress, illness, or significant lifestyle disruption. This pattern is usually reversible once the underlying trigger is identified and addressed.
Post-Illness or Medication-Related
Hair loss following significant illness, surgery, or certain medications, which often responds well to supportive treatment once the underlying cause has resolved.

Popular Treatments

The three treatments below are the most frequently used in our men’s hair loss programme, often combined for a more complete result than any one alone.

🩸

PRP

Platelet-rich plasma is prepared from a small sample of your own blood and injected into the scalp, delivering a concentrated dose of growth factors directly to struggling follicles. PRP stimulates follicular stem cells, extends the active growth phase of the hair cycle, and improves the thickness of existing hair — the most evidence-supported of the three treatments here, and our most requested for men.

💉

Scalp Mesotherapy

A bespoke micronutrient formula — including biotin, B vitamins, zinc, copper peptides, and DHT-inhibiting agents — injected directly into the scalp dermis. This bypasses the limitations of topical products entirely, delivering active ingredients to the follicle at a concentration impossible to achieve with a shampoo or serum. Frequently combined with PRP for a stronger combined effect.

💉

Botox® for Hair

Botulinum toxin injected superficially into the scalp relaxes the muscles that can restrict blood flow to hair follicles, improving local circulation and oxygen and nutrient delivery to the scalp. It also reduces scalp tension and sebum production, creating a healthier follicular environment. An emerging, increasingly popular adjunct rather than a standalone primary treatment.

Combining treatments. The strongest results we see typically come from combining PRP and scalp mesotherapy as a core protocol, with Botox® for hair added as a supportive adjunct. Dr Philippe or Dr Jihyun Byun will assess your pattern of hair loss and recommend the specific combination, sequencing, and frequency most likely to help — and will tell you honestly if a treatment is unlikely to make a meaningful difference at your stage of hair loss.

What Results to Expect

01
Months 1–3
Reduced shedding is often the first sign of response. Visible new growth is not yet expected at this stage — the hair cycle takes time to shift.
02
Months 3–6
Fine new growth (vellus hair) often becomes visible, particularly at the hairline and crown. Existing hair may appear thicker as miniaturised follicles respond.
03
Months 6–12
The fullest assessment of treatment response. Improved density and coverage are typically most apparent at this stage, with ongoing maintenance recommended to sustain results.

Discreet & Confidential

Your Privacy, Respected

Hair loss is a deeply personal concern for many men, and seeking treatment is often delayed simply out of discomfort discussing it. Every consultation and treatment at PHP Aesthetic-Wellness is handled with complete confidentiality. There is no judgement here — only a clear, honest assessment of what can realistically help, delivered with the same discretion we apply to every men’s service at PHP.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will these treatments work for advanced baldness?
Treatment is significantly more effective on follicles that are still active but miniaturising than on areas where follicles have been dormant for many years. For advanced, long-standing baldness, results are likely to be more limited, and a hair transplant may be a more appropriate option. We will assess your specific pattern honestly at consultation rather than promise results these treatments cannot deliver.
How soon will I see results?
Reduced shedding is often the first sign of response within the first one to three months. Visible new growth typically takes three to six months to become apparent, with the fullest result assessed at six to twelve months. Hair loss treatment requires patience — the hair growth cycle simply does not move faster than this.
Is PRP or mesotherapy painful?
A topical anaesthetic is applied to the scalp before treatment, making both well tolerated by most patients. Some mild tenderness or tightness in the scalp for a day or two afterwards is common and resolves quickly.
Can these be combined with finasteride or minoxidil?
Yes, and for many patients this combination produces the best results. PRP, scalp mesotherapy, and Botox® for hair work through different mechanisms to oral and topical treatments, so they are frequently used alongside them rather than as a replacement. Dr Philippe or Dr Jihyun Byun will discuss your current regimen at consultation.
How many sessions will I need?
PRP typically involves an initial course of three sessions four to six weeks apart, with maintenance every four to six months. Scalp mesotherapy usually requires six to ten sessions for an initial course. Botox® for hair is typically repeated every four to six months as a supportive adjunct. Your specific protocol will be confirmed at consultation.
