Natural Proportion Never Overdone Excellence on Harley Street

22 Harley Street· CQC Regulated· Hyaluronic Acid Filler· Dr Philippe Hamida-Pisal· The French Touch

The lips are one of the most expressive features of the face, and one of the easiest to overdo. Our approach to lip filler is built around proportion and balance — enhancing volume, hydration, and definition while keeping the result in harmony with the rest of your face.

What Lip Filler Does

Lip filler uses hyaluronic acid — a substance naturally found in the skin — to add volume, improve hydration, and refine the shape and definition of the lips. As we age, lips naturally lose volume and definition, and the border between lip and skin (the vermilion border) can become less distinct; filler can restore this, or simply enhance a naturally thinner lip shape that a patient has always wanted more fullness or definition for.

The technique matters more than the volume used. A well-placed, modest amount of filler that respects the natural proportion of the upper and lower lip and the overall balance of the face will always look more flattering than a larger volume placed without that consideration. This is the principle behind every lip treatment at PHP Aesthetic-Wellness.

“The lips should never look separate from the rest of the face. Proportion is everything — a beautifully balanced lip enhances a smile; an overfilled one is the first thing anyone notices, for the wrong reasons.”Dr Philippe Hamida-Pisal, PHP Aesthetic-Wellness

What Lip Filler Can Address

Naturally thin lips, or volume lost gradually with age
Asymmetry between the upper and lower lip
A poorly defined lip border or “cupid’s bow”
Fine vertical lines above the upper lip
A downturned mouth corner, often treated alongside lip enhancement
Dehydrated, dry-looking lips that lack natural definition

Approaches to Lip Enhancement

Hydration & Subtle Volume
A small amount of filler focused on hydration and a subtle volume increase — ideal for a first treatment or a very natural, barely-there result.
Definition & Border
Filler placed precisely along the lip border to sharpen definition and restore or enhance the cupid’s bow, without necessarily adding significant volume.
Volume Restoration
For lips that have lost meaningful volume with age, a fuller treatment restores a more youthful fullness while respecting natural lip proportion.
Asymmetry Correction
Careful, uneven application to balance a naturally or developmentally asymmetric upper and lower lip.

What to Expect

Duration

Treatment typically takes 30–40 minutes, including assessment and a topical anaesthetic applied beforehand for comfort.

🪨

Downtime

Mild swelling is common and usually most noticeable in the first 24–48 hours, settling within a week. Most patients return to normal activities immediately.

📅

Results Last

Lip filler results typically last six to twelve months, depending on the product used and individual metabolism, with a top-up recommended to maintain the result.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my lips look obviously filled?
Not with the right technique and volume. We focus on proportion and natural lip shape rather than maximum volume, and will always discuss a realistic, flattering outcome with you before treatment rather than simply adding as much product as requested.
Is lip filler painful?
A topical anaesthetic is applied before treatment, and most fillers also contain a local anaesthetic component, making the procedure well tolerated by most patients. Some pressure or mild discomfort during injection is normal, particularly around the more sensitive areas of the lip.
How much swelling should I expect?
Mild to moderate swelling in the first 24 to 48 hours is normal and often more noticeable than the eventual settled result. We recommend judging the final result at around two weeks, once swelling has fully resolved.
Can lip filler be dissolved if I don’t like the result?
Yes. Hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved using an enzyme called hyaluronidase (Hyalase) if a patient is unhappy with a result, whether from a previous treatment elsewhere or at PHP Aesthetic-Wellness.
How often will I need a top-up?
Most patients return for a top-up every six to twelve months, though this varies depending on the individual, the product used, and how much filler was originally placed.
