Clinical Standard — Genuine Therapeutic Effect — Excellence on Harley Street
An ancient technique with a genuinely modern therapeutic rationale: cupping uses controlled suction to release deep muscular tension and stimulate circulation, delivered at PHP Aesthetic-Wellness to the same clinical standard as every other treatment in our wellness programme.
How Cupping Works
Cupping therapy uses small cups, applied with controlled suction, to lift the skin and superficial fascia away from the underlying muscle. This mechanical lift releases adhesions and tightness that build up within the muscle and connective tissue over time, particularly in areas affected by repetitive posture, stress, or physical strain. The negative pressure also draws blood flow to the treated area, supporting circulation, lymphatic drainage, and the body’s natural recovery processes in the tissue beneath.
At PHP Aesthetic-Wellness, cupping is most commonly applied to the back, shoulders, and neck — the areas where physical tension from stress, desk-based work, and prolonged sitting most often accumulates — though it can be adapted to other areas depending on individual need.
“Cupping is one of those treatments people are often sceptical of until they feel the actual release in a muscle that has been tight for months. The marks it leaves are temporary and minor; the relief is often immediate.”PHP Aesthetic-Wellness, 22 Harley Street
Who Cupping May Help
What to Expect
Assessment
A brief discussion of where you are experiencing tension or tightness, and any relevant medical history, before treatment begins.
Cup Placement
Cups are applied to the treatment area using controlled suction, either left static or moved gently across the muscle depending on the technique used.
Aftercare
Mild, temporary circular marks are common and reflect increased blood flow to the treated tissue. These typically fade within a few days to a week.
