Mole Removal
Mole removal may be performed for both medical and cosmetic reasons.
A medical reason to remove a mole would be to determine if the lesion represents a form of skin cancer or if it causing the patient physical discomfort. When a mole develops a change in, or has an unusual, size, shape or color this creates concern that skin cancer may be developing. Depending on the size, shape and reason, mole removal may or may not require stitches. All moles removed by the doctor will be sent for analysis by a dermatopathologist to determine whether or not they are cancerous.

If a suspicious lesion is identified, it will be biopsied and sent to a laboratory to be prepared for examination by a dermatopathologist.
