About Rhinoplasty Non-surgical
TO KNOW MORE
Non-surgical rhinoplasty refers to alterations to the nose performed without surgical intervention. This usually involves the injection of skin fillers. Skin fillers are products injected in different facial regions to add volume, such as Art Filler or Stylage. Examples of commonly injected facial regions include the lips, the nasolabial folds (the creases between the sides of the nose and the corners of the mouth), and the cheeks. In recent years, the technique of non-surgical rhinoplasty evolved, where skin fillers are injected on different parts of the nose to fill in grooves and depressions and camouflage imperfections or irregularities. The procedure consists of freezing the skin of the nose, usually with an anesthetic cream applied for 20-30 minutes, followed by injection of key areas, determined by DrPhilippe Hamida-Pisal and the patient, to provide an improvement. The injection usually takes about 20 minutes and is performed in the office. Non-surgical rhinoplasty using fillers offers several advantages. First, it is a good option for many patients who do not wish to undergo surgery, or who are contemplating surgery but have not yet reached the decision. Second, touch-ups are very easy to perform as they consist of a simple injection to add a small amount of filler to a particular area. The nose can therefore be “sculpted” with the injections until the desired result is achieved. And third, non-surgical rhinoplasty is less expensive than surgery.
Because the fillers used in non-surgical rhinoplasty are not permanent, the technique provides the patient with an idea of the result without committing to it permanently. In the event the patient is not entirely satisfied with the result, the injections are simply not repeated. The filler disappears within a few months and the nose regains its original shape. There are two principal disadvantages. First, the result is not permanent. Different types of fillers are available with different durations. The result can last up to one to two years depending on the material and injection technique. Second, the main limitation of the technique is that volume can only be added. Although excessive tissue, such as a prominent hump on the nose or a large tip, can be camouflaged, its removal is usually not possible without surgery. Therefore, non-surgical rhinoplasty is not suitable for everyone, as some imperfections of the nose cannot be corrected through this method. Non-surgical rhinoplasty can correct many of the problems that surgery can. It is a very versatile technique and may be applied to different types of nasal anatomies and skin types. It is a good alternative in many patients who do not wish to have surgery, for whom surgery may be too risky because of medical or other reasons, or for patients for whom the cost of surgery is an obstacle. A common use of non-surgical rhinoplasty is in patients who have undergone rhinoplasty and wish to have a touch-up, or a more significant change, without undergoing an additional surgery. For such patients, non-surgical rhinoplasty is an excellent option. It is used to camouflage imperfections or add volume to areas where tissue was excessively removed.
