ANTI-WRINKLE TREATMENTS USING BOTOX®

ANTI-WRINKLE TREATMENTS USING BOTOX®

People have been talking about BOTOX® for a long time now, but what exactly is it and how does it work?

BOTOX® (Botulinum toxin)is a protein from a bacteria created in laboratories and its production resembles the way penicillin is made. This protein can be injected into different areas of the body and its effect is a localised relaxation of the muscles – BOTOX® injections will relax the face muscles and smooth out fine lines and wrinkles. When the muscles can no longer contract, the skin covering the muscle will become flat and even and the lines in the face will diminish.

For more than twenty years, this protein has been used to treat other conditions such as cerebral palsy, chronic muscular pain, vocal cord dysfunction and visual disturbances. Around ten years ago scientists discovered that BOTOX® could be used to treat migraines and tension headaches, and shortly after they realised that the lines in the forehead and between the eyes of patients disappeared when receiving treatment with this protein. That is how BOTOX® started to be used in the aesthetic industry.

Nowadays, BOTOX® is used in several areas of the face in addition to those on the forehead. It is very effective for reducing crow’s feet and frown lines. It can be also used for “bunny lines” on the nose, necklines and the droopy lines on the sides of the mouth. Likewise, it is used safely to treat hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating, especially in armpits, hands or feet).

NO FROZEN LOOK AFTER BOTOX WITH THE FRENCH TOUCH

One of the main concerns of our clients is the risk of having a “frozen look“ after a BOTOX® treatment. Botox injections, as most aesthetic treatments, must always be personalised. The quantities, depths and places of injection may vary a little from face to face and the aesthetic doctor must be an expert and have a vast knowledge of the muscular structure of the face. Every patient is unique and our personalised/bespoke approach is always applied when using BOTOX®.

The so-called “frozen look” is always the result of a lack of anatomical knowledge on the part of the practitioner and it can easily be avoided by consulting an experienced aesthetic doctor. The goal of a BOTOX® treatment is to reduce wrinkles and attain a look that is natural and relaxed making the face look fresh and well rested. With the French Touch we can always achieve this. Studies have shown that many people look around five years younger after their first treatment.

If any at all, the side effects of BOTOX® are generally very mild. Most patients will be able to continue with their day within 20 minutes after the treatment, and no one will notice a difference as BOTOX® starts to show around 4-7 days after the injections have been applied.

At PHP Aesthetic-Wellness we believe in a personalised approach and we take the time to study every patient’s features during an initial consultation. We strongly believe that the consultation is paramount, so the patient has enough time to discuss their needs and expectations with our doctors.  It is of vital importance that the patient feels confortable with the doctor, and this can only happen if the aesthetic professional has the required experience and is able to address the needs and concerns of each client in order to achieve natural results.

Being BOTOX® a non-permanent treatment, it may need to be repeated every 4 to 6 months to assure long-lasting results. Over time, the treated muscles lose their strength and the results may become permanent. Some lines will completely disappear and others will soften considerably.

Apart from being incredibly effective for reducing lines and wrinkles, BOTOX® is a very safe method to feel fresh and younger. When applied correctly, it is another way of enhancing your natural beauty making you feel and look your best.
